This Week…

This week has been very busy!

Very exciting! I have taken on tutoring some more A Level students in preparation for their exams in June.

My Mom and I went to the Sewing for Pleasure and Hobbycrafts show at the NEC. It was so much fun and we got lots of goodies! We are both feeling inspired about finishing old projects and starting brand new ones! Here are some of the new Burda patterns we purchased:

It has been snowing like crazy here the last few day! We have never had snow this late in March and it isn’t showing signs of disappearing anytime soon!

How was your week? What have you been up to?

If you haven’t already, don’t forget to enter the giveaways here and here.

Nail Care: Looking After My Nails

My nails have been pretty weak and in general bad condition lately from all of the wear and tear of using and removing nail polish.  Consequently, I decided to give them a bit of TLC. This is what they looked before:

Heres what I used:

You will need:
– A nail file
– A nail buffer
– Nail oil and cuticle pusher
– Nail revitalise polish

Firstly, file your nails into the shape you like.

Next buff your nails to remove ridges and give them a healthy shine.

Massage in some nail and cuticle oil to condition your nails and leave to soak in for a few minutes.

Use the cuticle pusher to push your cuticles back.

Leave the oil to soak for 15 minutes. You can always massage it into your nails.

Wash the oil off and apply two coats of a conditioning or hardening nail varnish.

You can always finish with your favourite hand cream to moisturise your hands.

Afterward my nails felt and looked much better:

How do you care for your nails? Do you have any tips or favourite products to use?

Sewing History Part 4

Here are the final few items I made from 18-20 years old.

Loveheart dress. I never really liked this dress on me; it just wasn’t me so I decided to sell it.

Silky embroidered dress. I loved this dress! So easy to wear and casual enough for daytime but fancy enough for a night out.

Hello Kitty patch shift dress. This dress is so cute! Made the shift dress but it was so plain I never wore it so I added a scrap piece of lace cut into a heart, a hello kitty patch and decorative embroidery.

Patch Close-up

Hem Decoration

Polka dot dress.   Another one of my favourites. So cute. Perfect for all year. I was so sad when it didn’t fit me anymore. I found 2 pictures of me wearing it in 2008 (not great pictures – sorry!).

Wearing the dress with Nemo

With Nemo

Embroidered cheesecloth dress. Made from the same pattern as the black embroidered dress but without the frill on the bottom. Also made for summer/holidays.

Skull halter neck dress. Made to sell.

Paisley Maxi dress. I loved this dress but it came up too big and it was so heavy! So decided to sell.

Basic t shirt. Just a jersey t shirt for around the house.

Blue & Pink Tutu. So I needed something to wear for a neon night during Freshers so my Mom and I cut up loads of net and made this. Very fun to make and wear. Also customised the Freshers t shirt by ripping, cutting and tying.

During university I didn’t get much time for sewing but now I have graduated and have more time I’m going to get back into it and I cannot wait! I have way too many projects planned but hopefully I will be able to focus myself and finish off all my unfinished items and begin sewing a brand new spangly wardrobe!

Do you have any unfinished sewing items?

Prague: Escape The Fate 2009

In 2009 I went to Escape the Fate for the first time (I have seen them live 4 times so far!). It was an amazing show and we got seats right at the front of the balcony! Here are the pictures:

The first band were a local Czech band which I cannot remember the name of now… Let me know if you recognise them.

Blurry photo but I love how it came out:
